Composed for the unusual combination of Flute and Tuba, Odd Bedfellows may also be performed with Bassoon. Movement 1 is titled At the Hippo Watering Hole, and is full of scenic imagery. The beautiful Movement 2 takes place Among the Pine Barrens and features tuneful Tuba writing in its tenor register from middle C up to G. The playful Movement 3 is a game In and Out the Window, leading to Movement 4 Under the Big Top.
