In writing Salon Music (in November and December 2020), I hoped to modestly break new ground by providing some light classical music for this combination of instruments. Analysis would be otiose because the material is designed to be simply a filler, an encore piece or closing 'lollipop'.
Suffice it to say that the Tango is in A-B-A form, that the Canzonetta (an arrangement of a Yeats setting from 1979) is strophic and that the Tarantella is essentially monothematic. This latter section has one or two instances of bi-tonality - a great rarity in my music.
