Before going to university I spent a winter season working as a pianist in a traditional hotel in the Swiss Alps. This suite is based on memories of that time.

An Alpine Horn (or Alphorn) is a Swiss musical instrument, used by mountain dwellers for communication, and by farmers for calling their cattle in. Made of wood, it is usually about ten feet long.
